Talking about Japanese Food, maybe one of the most common word came from people’s mouth was Ramen. Ramen as one of world wide popular Japanese Food have been easily remembered by lots of people in Indonesia. Despite their main originality actually came from Chinese noodle called Lamian, I think many people still know that Ramen was authentic Japanese food. Ramen actually sold by many restaurants since a long time ago, e.g. Gokana and Ajisen Ramen. But since one or two years ago, Ramen became very popular and happening with many new restaurants specialized in Ramen, started from Hakatta Ikhousa and followed by other now, which sell many kind of Ramen from various district in Japan, each with their own unique taste.
One of my favourite Ramen House in my list was Ikkudo Ichi
, which located in Crown Golf of Pantai Indah Kapuk (they also have opened their second outlet in Gading Walk, Kelapa Gading). Located perfectly across new outlet of other famous Ramen house, Hakatta Ikhousa, which could be called pioneer of Ramen specialized restaurant in Indonesia. Okay, back to Ikkudo Ichi hehehe. Ikkudo Ichi outlet have spacious outlet dominated by wood floor and furnitures. Design of the restaurant really beautiful with hint of Japanese theme when you in there. They put big size of plastic sakura flower trees in the outer side of the restaurant. The also put many pink lanterns on the ceiling, which will be beautiful decoration on the night when the lamp inside the lantern turned on.
Seating area separated into two area, indoor and outdoor which give flexibility for customer who want to smoke. Ikkudo Ichi have open kitchen which customer can see their cooking process. From my observation, I see that their kitchen separated into stations where each station have task to prepare the ramen systematically.
Beside ramen as their signature dish, Ikkudo Ichi also sell other menu included donmono menu (rice menu) with choice of wagyu steak don, chasu don, katsu curry and many others. For accompanying you eat the ramen, they served side dish, e.g. gyoza, pork cheek, tori karage, etc. For the ramen they have 2 main type, buta which mean pork and tori or chicken. They have 4 type of broth flavour for the ramen, Ikkudo Kara, Signature, Miso and Curry. Their favourite of course the signature and ikkudo kara Ramen. The difference was in Ikkudo secret red sauce which made Ikkudo Kara more spicy than signature ramen.
They offer option for you to choose in term of broth richness, softness of the noodle, flavour strengthIkkudo’s Buta Kara
Price : 45.800
Ikkudo Buta Kara came with extra red chili paste, with ingredients of half boiled egg, chasu, scalliion and seaweed in pork broth inside a big white bowl. The red sauce must be stirred first, but it not too spicy actually. If you really like a spicy ramen, they provide chili powder and cabe rawit
which guaranteed make your ramen hotter hehe. The main point of tasty ramen was their broth. I preferred pork broth than chicken broth due to it more tasty than chicken one. Ikkudo’s broth texture was thick enough with strong and tasty flavour. If you don’t like thick broth, Ikkudo have option of light broth texture or heavy broth. In each table they also provide extra oil if you want to adjust your ramen. From the broth, I tihink Ikkudo was one of the best. The topping was 2 slices chasu and half boiled egg. The chasu portion was big and thick and also really tender. The egg also perfectly boiled, half cooked. Ikkudo’s Buta Kara served with small noodle (with choice of small or curly noodle). The noodle felt really smooth and perfectly match with the broth. Yummy and it’s heavenly delicious!Tonkatsu Tsukemen
Price : 49.800
My order this one hehe. This menu actually not ramen, but look a like in term of taste. The different just in the way they served the noodle. Named Tsukemen, the noodle served in separate bowl from the pork broth. The noodle have a different form than ramen, which is more thick and chewy compared to the first. It look a udon but slightly smaller. Since the noodle serve separately, it actually cold and you should put it into the bowl to make it warmer. The topping same with Ikkudo Buta Kara, but they give much more slices of chasu. Up to 5 chasu served in a plate with other topping and ingredients (half boiled egg, scallion and seaweed). 2 slices of chasu will sastify you, can you imagine with 5 then? hehehe. The portion was generous, especially the 5 slices of chasu. Tasted so delicious and successfully made my belly fully loaded. The bright taste lighter than Buta Kara, but you can adjust manually though.
For drink, I ordered Ocha
, traditional Japanese tea. The ocha is refillable too. It taste plain actually, not felt bitter taste on it. What could be better to enjoy your hot and spicy Ramen with a refillable ocha. In Ikkudo, there were one person steady to refill your ocha. They move really fast to refill my glass since they always holding teapot around the restaurant
In each table they placed raw garlic complete with crusher tool. The garlic then could be added to your ramen broth
Japanese people known with their attention to quality control. In Ikkudo, quality of each items also well maintained not only the big parts, but also the detail. Started from the freshness, cleaness to the serving consistency.
After the second time, Ikkudo Ichi not changed at all in term bring authentic Japanese taste of Ramen. The price slightly increase as like many restaurant but I still considered worthed price. If you called yourself ramen-lover, then you must visit Ikkudo Ichi!
