Hi openrice! Last Sunday I decided to have lunch in
Maystar to celebrate my birthday. Actually I have visited Maystar in Central Park couple times, but just now I can give you a review for Maystar.
Maystar central park located in Lower Ground level, with concept of open restaurant and open kitchen. The restaurant really looked Chinese family restaurant type with big rounded table. The place design really simple yet elegant with black table and couch chair and yellow light. The placement of table and chair actually quite close to each others to accommodate more people. Maystar in central always full with customer especially on the weekend
The menu very complete consisted of live seafood, pork, beef, vegetables, seafood, duck with many variation of cooking ways. They also sell dimsum menu, noodle, fried rice, porridge and also many kind of dessert like mango and coconut pudding. Maystar also using foreign chef to cook and supervise other, so the food taste and quality always well controlled.
The menu book for main dish actually very big and heavy, even maybe I need one empty small table to open 2 side of the book. The menu book separated into 3 book, main dish, noodle/fried rice/dimsum and drink/dessert book
Sapo Tahu Taukan
Small portion (price : 64.000) This menu served in the hot stone bowl with tofu, minced pork meat, mushroom and green vegetables. It tasted really delicious come from the sauce. Despite I ordered the small size, actually the portion was more than enough for 2 person. The minced meat also really tasty with lots amount given by Maystar. Until I finish this dish, the meat still available. The tofu texture really soft inside and the mushroom and green vegetables really fresh and crunchy. Really delicious
Bakmie Samcan Panggang
(price : 44.000) In Chinese tradition, I told to eat noodles, so I ordered this menu. Actually I order this menu because of the pork belly or more known as “samcan” above the noodle in menu book. From the picture, it look really delicious and it didn’t disappoint me. The noodle felt a bit plain but the texture really smooth with thin noodle. The noodle also served with big green vegetables with crunchy texture. The stand out component from this menu is the “samcan”. The “samcan” really delicious, with crispy skin and tender and tasty fatty meat. The texture of fatty meat really tender and juicy. The best “samcan” I’ve ever had and overall, it’s really great noodle.
Siomai
(price : 22.000)This siomai filled with pork and shrimp on the top served in warm and fresh condition. The siomai really great with thin and smooth skin. The pork meat really generous and the shrimp also big. There is nothing but the pork and shrimp I can feel inside my mouth. The pork and shrimp tasted great and really juicy. One portion consisted of 4 pieces siomay. Love it so much and so far, the best siomai I’ve ever taste.
Prawn Mayonnaise
Small portion (price : 86.000)This menu really delicious and become my number one favourite menu when visit Maystar. The prawn felt really crunchy outside and juicy inside. The prawn also served with tobiko over the top. Size each prawn were really big, consistent with huge amount of prawn served in white plate in shape of heart-like. The mayonnaise sauce really good and make this dish really good. The mayonnaise used by Maystar was so good. I’m big fan of prawn with mayonnaise, and Maystar’s prawn simply the best.
Jasmine Tea
(price : 9.800 / pax)For drink I ordered chinese tea of jasmine. The tea smell really good with tea leaf inside it and it have great taste of tea. The tea flavor really strong. This tea also free refill since tea leaf usually can used for 2-3 times
If you eat here, don’t forget to request for fried white onion and black chili (I’m not sure the exact name). Both of them really good with super crunchy texture.
From all the menu I ordered, no one disappointed me. All of the menu have great , delicious and also unforgettable taste. After finish all the menu, I already think that I need to come back here soon to order another pork belly/samcan and also prawn mayonnaise.
The price is quite expensive, but for me, the taste I got worthed every cents I spent. In Maystar, there is one principle applied here, you get what you pay, and the prices for sure don’t lie here. Recommended restaurant if you’re Chinese food lover or craving for Chinese food.
