Recently, I have been liking a certain restaurant in Pantai Indah Kapuk that serves beef cooked in many different ways. They have steaks, shabu-shabu, sandwiches, etc. Also, the variety of beef for steak ranges from Australian to Wagyu. So, if you want to indulge in a tender and juicy beef, you can choose Wagyu, but if you want to save up, but still want steaks, the Australian might be an option. However, if you want a healthier option, you can order the shabu-shabu, which offers a choice between Australian or US beef, sirloin or rib-eye. Thinking about it now, makes me droll already.
The other day, my bf and I went there for dinner. He ordered Australian Grassfed Rib Eye cooked medium rare with a side of mashed potatoes and boiled vegetables. I chose Shabu-Shabu with Australian Rib-eye thin beef slices. The shabu-shabu came with a bowl of rice, assorted vegetables, fish cakes and two types of mushrooms (Shitake and Enoki).
My first order came around 10 minutes with a shabu-shabu pot and the food. It was a portable pot with a clay-like candle on the bottom to light the fire.
The condiments for Shabu-Shabu
The taste of the broth is heart warming and savory. It's not too overpowering, but at the same time, it has enough beef stock flavor to stand out on its own. The broth is seasoned well enough that I don't have to add more salt or pepper to the dish. I do add some chilli to get that spicy flavor.
Meat, tofu, fish cake, vegetables, mushrooms
The thin beef slices is cut to perfection so that it only needs about 3-5 minutes for it to cook completely. I usually leave my beef slices for 3 minutes and eating them immediately. The texture is soft and warm, but not tough at all. It has a fragrant smell from the broth that it's dipped in and tasted savory and sweet from the beef, but not like sugar sweet. Just sweetness from the beef itself.
Steak, vegetables and mashed potato
My bf's order came around 20 minutes after we first order, so around 10 minutes after my shabu-shabu slices. His order came in a square plate, neatly placed alongside one another. The beef looks juicy with the very neat grill marks on the surface.
Medium Rare. Cooked to perfection
As he cut across the meat, it looked beautiful. It was cooked just the way he wanted it, still red in the center, but brown on the outside.
The beef itself tasted very tender and juicy. It wasn't tough that I have to chew multiple times to swallow it. It just took around 10 times chewing and it's already soft and tender. The black pepper sauce that was served alongside it was also very fragrant with black pepper.
Additional IDR 50,000 will get you this
For another IDR 50,000 with the steak, my bf got musroom soup, salad and mango pudding.
The service was top notch for a small restaurant, there is almost always someone at the door to greet you once you enter. The time of the food served is also fast. The waiters and waitresses are friendly and will cater to your every need.
You can pay with cash, debit cards or credit cards, so paying is easy. The environment and ambiance of the cafe has a warm and cozy feeling. Kinda feels like home, really. Probably because of the neat and organized interior it has. However, it might feel a bit crowded when it's full house, but you can always choose to dine upstairs.
Overall, I really enjoyed dining here and will keep coming back for the steaks and shabu-shabu. Definitely a five star restaurant!
