Ah, a slice of American dining. Sometimes we all have a hankering for some grease-soaked fried chicken and want to slosh it down with some chilled orange juice. I had one of those moments this weekend while crossing back into my hotel from Kartika Plaza street.

The cute and homely front counter gal was all bubbles and smiles. Seating was abundant. The place was chock full of families with their kids. The wait to get our food was fairly short.

I felt that the prices were very reasonable. My order of 2 Fried Chicken combo and 1 orange juice came to under 100k.

Chicken:
The chicken was finger licking good, light and not greasy. It was cooked perfectly but still juicy.

Side Dishes:
Choco Lava. Yes! it was a decent size for 5k. It went great with the meal.

All in all, great experience!

Terrific, terrific little place.

The place isn't too big and is decorated with an old school feel to it. For a quick glance, the exterior looks like your average Balinese-style warung. When you step into the eatery, the decor is rustic to the point of a place like your old "kampung" style eatery.

The service was prompt. The menu included English translation. There are lots of options on the menu, both Chinese and Indonesian. Food is authentic with a Chinese twist but also typical Indonesian. I ordered several dishes and they were excellent.

I had:
MIE GORENG SPESIAL (stir fried noodle) 12k
The stir fried noodle was yummy. Generous portion of stir fried noodles, vegetables and topped with a fried egg. It was a mix of sweet and salty and deliciousness! A good amount of savory and spice, and the noodles were cooked to perfection to the point where they were bouncy and chewy.

AYAM GORENG ASAM MANIS (fried chicken with sweet and sour sauce) 15k
The fried chicken was alright. The sauce was great and abundant - sweet and spicy.

NASI PUTIH (plain rice) 4k

Prices were much affordable and suited the food portions. Highly recommended for a relaxed cheap meal (but not for romantic moonlit dinner with a gorgeous view) smileVisit their website, www.warungkampung.com, to get a sneak peak of their menu.

warung ijo @ ubud raya Smile Dec 05, 2013

On the main street of Ubud, Warung Ijo has a very narrow entrance, often blocked by parked scooters. Wriggle your way through, as it's definitely worth it. A self service buffet with a large choice of meat, fish and vegetable dishes offers plenty of options. Red and green sambal is available for customers who like their food nice and spicy. You can scoop as much as you want for the buffet meals and they will give you the card how much you have to pay for it... after they check the meals that you had. There are some ala carte items which you can order separately.

Other thing that I like about this small restaurant is they are clean. With open kitchen, you can see how they always make sure everything is clean and not smell bad.

The food is solid and good. The best time to visit this place is lunch time when the menu already completed and ready. They're still open until about 7-8 pm, but of course there is not much left on their buffet meals.

I ordered THE NASI RAMES (20k) so I could try a couple different dishes.
The nasi rames was fantastic... four dishes around a pile of super soft fragrant rice. All the side dishes were good.
Sayur Lodeh: The lodeh was basically vegetables basked in coconut milk, and it was not light on the coconut.
Ayam Kalasan: BBQ fried chicken. It was a little sweet, but the chicken was made so tender and mouthwatering.
My personal ALL time favorite is oseng-oseng tempe. The sweet soy sauce and combination of many spices makes this any vegetarian's dream dish.
And last but not least, a spring roll.

And for Moslem people, yes, it's halal!

I'm a KFC girl. Not just in Jakarta, I feel like I have to step up my KFC experience to Bali smile

Residing at the corner of Jl. Pantai Kuta, it's difficult to miss this restaurant. Once a sleepy village with a quiet, beautiful sweep of beach, Kuta today has become a popular beach destination in its own right. There are many souvenir shops along Kuta that offering you many kind of Balinese souvenir. And when your stomach is yearning for something to eat, there are various foreign and local restaurants that offering international and local foods. These restaurants are available along Kuta. And the one that stands tall here is it's Colonel Sander's Kentucky Fried Chicken.

AMBIANCE
Nice interior design for a fast food place. It's all clean, sharp-looking and modern. It also portrays the laid back atmosphere of Kuta, a holiday town. No aircon in the establishment. The dress code here is shorts, T-shirts and flip-flops. It's Kuta anyway. And people here are in holiday mood.

Chicken improved? I'm sure I don't know what I'm talking about - but I actually enjoyed the chicken. Maybe because I ordered the crispy version instead of the regular? Crispy is good in my book.

The fact that KFCs are ubiquitous, conveniently located, quick, inexpensive, and provide outstanding value should rank them high on anyone's Fast Food list.
