Dinner at D'llyst Cry Jan 22, 2015

At 11th of January, mid-sis was having her sweet 17th birthday at D'llyst! It is one of many cafe in PIK. In-line with Porter House, D'llyst is quite spacious. The indoor area can hold up to 70 person.

Dessert table made by us

A little review about the dessert table ;) We made it by ourselves, and the theme was Tiffany Blue. As you can see, all the cake, cupcakes, and candies were decorated with tiffany blue accent.

D'llyst is divided into 2 section. Smoking and non-smoking room as usual. Both of them are quite spacious and well-designed. The smoking section was decorated with many quotes. And we have some favorite smile

We quite loved the interior design of D'llyst. It's simple and clear, with some vintage ornaments. Ah, we super love the bird cage and other ornaments near the window.

That time, we ate Smoked Beef Chowder Soup as appetizer, Fish and Chips as main course, Fried Banana with ice cream as dessert, and we drank Ice Tea. (Party pax : 135k++ / pax)

Smoked Beef Chowder Soup
This taste quite good and nice for appetizer. We love the garlic bread! It suit the soup taste well smile

Fish and Chips
Taste like normal fried dory fish. A little bit disappointing because it consist more chips than fish. The fish wasn't that fresh, and the chips itself were too small and too crispy.

Fried banana with ice cream
We are disappointed with the taste of this dish. The bananas were just .... terrible. Just not our style and it taste quite awful. The caramel sauce was too bitter and the ice cream has some crystallized ice inside it.
The service wasn't that good. Some of us waited for almost 1 hour to get our food served. However, we had a nice dinner party. Hope they will improve their service. Not sure if we'll comeback or no.. Anyway, thanks for your effort D'llyst.

We visited Toscana in Kemang because our friend recommended it to us. So last Eid Mubarak holiday, we went there. Toscana is under the same management of other restaurant in Bali called Ultimo Italian Restaurant and Rumours Restaurant.Toscana served authentic Italian food in traditional way. The place was quite hidden but don't worry, just use Google Maps or Waze to find this restaurant. Toscana's exterior was just like a normal house with red roof and only have one floor. But once you stepped into it, you'll feel the Italian restaurant feeling (The musics played here make a big different LOL)

The restaurant itself was quite big and could handle up until around 90 person, I guess? The concept of the restaurant seems like a semi fine dining Italian restaurant. All the tables were set finely and all the waiter/waitress dressed professionally. What's interesting about Toscana is you'll get complimentary breads and mineral water and they are refill-able (Is that even a word?). Oh and also they will give you garlic-flavored butter for spreading. It's delicious!

Spaghetti Aglio Olio e Peperoncino, 33k
Spaghetti pasta cooked in extra virgin olive oil, garlic, and chilies
We really love their aglio olio. The taste wasn't too garlicky and not too oily. And they had the perfect level of spiciness. For the spaghetti pasta, it was cooked al dente. Overall this dish is one of our favorite.

Fettucine con Funghi e Tartufo, 65k
Fettucine pasta with Indonesian truffle "seasonally" cooked in white wine and cream sauce
Fettucine con Funghi e Tartufo is Toscana new menu. At first, LilSis was interested to buy this because it is written that it is cooked in white wine. And they also use Indonesian truffle. I was hopping that the wine flavor would be quite strong, but it turned out quite disappointing. I couldn't neither taste nor smell the white wine. Although the pasta once again was cooked perfectly al dente, this dish was too bland for us. No salty nor rich taste.

Gnocchi di Patate alla Valtellina, 75k
Classic potato dumpling with Indonesian truffle "seasonally" and mix mushroom, imported fontina mountain cheese, tomato, and cream
How should I put it into words? We thought that the gnocchi was mushy but not too mushy and didn't really taste like potato. However, we didn't really like it. It's somehow weird for our palate. The sauce was a little bit too sour for us too.

(Half Pizza) Salami e Olive, 40.5k
Tomato, mozzarella, salami beef, salami pepperoni, black olive
We ordered half pizza (or counted as small size pizza) because we were worried that we would be too full. Their half pizza is divided into 5 pieces. They gave quite generous amount of mozzarella which we love! Taste wise, it was quite delicious and quite full filling.

Vongole Inguazzetto, 50k
Premium fresh clams cooked in white wine and cherry tomato. Served with garlic bread
The best dish of the day! No pasta here but only clams. We really love this dish as it has strong wine flavor and the clams were fresh and delicious. No fishy smell at all. Very recommended!

Linguine ala Trapanese, 40k
Linguine pasta with Tuna, Eggplant & cappers, cooked With white wine & cherry tomato
Linguine in fact is similar with fettuccine and trenette but it's more eliptical. The pasta was cooked perfectly. For the sauce taste, it was quite sour (from the tomato) and I don't remember tasting nor smelling the wine flavor. The tuna was cooked nicely. Maybe if you like tomato you would like this dish.

We really adore Toscana for having the best-cooked pasta we've ever tasted. All their pasta were cooked perfectly al-dente. A little note about their bread, BigSis and LilSis are their grey-colored bread (We thought it was made using wine as we could smell the wine flavor there). All in all, our visit was quite nice. Let's eat, foodies!
Supplementary Information:
The service was great too. The waiter/waitress were helpful.

Experience Indonesian Delicacy OK Jul 10, 2015

Categories : Betawi | Restaurant | Halal | Kumpul Keluarga

Before LilSis joined OpenRice gathering, she had her lunch at Kafe Betawi, Senayan City. It was her first time eating there and she said that it was just okay. That time, Kafe Betawi was super crowded so she had to wait for couple of minutes before getting seated. The place was small but they try to add as many tables and chairs as they could so it turned out to be very packed. The service wasn't that helpful too.
As soon as she saw the menu, she decided to order some of this :

Nasi Rawon, 49k
The rawon's broth was delicious. You could tell that they use real herbs when making this rawon. It's not too oily and the beef was very tender.

Soto Betawi, 47k
Their soto wasn't that good. Well, the meat was tender but the broth was too milky. And it's oily too. Plus it was too sweet for our palate. However, if you like sweet you might want to try it.

Fried Babat, 35k
Quite expensive for the portion that wasn't that big. Well, it was fried nicely hence it was slightly crunchy on the outside. I could say that they seasoned it nicely resulting in a balanced saltiness.

Nasi Goreng Kambing, 45k
Their fried rice wasn't that tasty. The goat meat wasn't tender and I could barely found the meat. The egg was the only thing that was normal. I mean it taste just like normal fried egg.

Supplementary Information:
The service wasn't that helpful and the price was quite expensive for the portion. Maybe it was because at that time the place was crowded

The second Meetup | Itadakimasu OK Jul 10, 2015

And here comes another new cafe at PIK. Itadakimasu's foods had been coloring our Instagram's feed lately. Especially their Starving Panda. So, we and some #SnapFoodie 's members gave this hip-cafe a try last Saturday.

Different from other cafes which are located around Bukit Golf Mediterania, Itadakimasu is located at Elang Laut. They're in-line with and before Grand Family Hospital. You can spot this cute looking cafe by searching for its cute mascot, Ted, a cute brown bear.
When we walked inside, we were quite amused by their cute bear drawings on the wall. You can spot many cute bear drawings on the wall, especially on their second floor. We choose to seat on the second floor as it has a long table and there weren't many people there.

Starving Panda, 48k

When we talk about Itadakimasu, the first thing that popped into our head was their cute Starving Panda. Yes! It's that cute and instagenic panda.
Starving Panda is basically seasoned rice that's shaped into panda form with their 'eyes and mouth' which actually made from seaweed. The 'pandas' were served with chicken katsu and curry sauce. Other than the good look, this dish is actually pretty good. The curry was nice with a lil bit spiciness. The katsu was nicely fried resulting a crispy skin and tender inside. Delicious~

Sweet Drugs Churros, 32k
Another instagenic food! Itadakimasu offer you sweet or savory churros. That day, we chose to order the sweet one ;) The churros is served with three different syringe/injection filled with sweet cheese, chocolate, and matcha/green tea sauce. Before you eat their churros, make sure to inject the filling first ;) The churros was nice and delicious. It's not overly sweet and were fluffy.

Mizu Mochi, 32k

Mizu Mochi consist three bouncy water-mochi, grind nuts, taro ice-cream, fruit loops, and maple syrup. At first, we were quite confused on how to eat this dish. So, we decided to mix everything together.

The ice-cream itself was very milky and had a bold taro taste. The water-mochi were great, but we're not really sure if it's mochi as it taste more like jelly. However, we thought that the grind nuts didn't blend well with the mochi and ice cream.
Itadakimasu is another addition to many cafes in Pantai Indah Kapuk area. The foods were pretty delicious. Let's eat, Foodies!

Supplementary Information:
However, we would like to give a little input on their service. The staffs weren't that helpful and very slow on doing anything, from taking order until during payment. And they also got our order wrong. It would be really nice if their service improve.

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Shabu Shabu | Kumpul Keluarga

ElsaSisters was invited to Canton Shabu-Shabu along with other foodies. From the name, you can tell that they are specialized in Hongkong style shabu-shabu. Formerly known as Canton House, Canton Shabu-Shabu also sell various kind of dimsum.

The restaurant itself was spacious, cozy and decorated in red and a little dark wooden color. The ambiance there was quite good, and the lighting was quite warm.

Onde Onde Goreng, 18.8k

The outer shell was crispy and the filling was just in the right portion. LilSis who never love Onde Onde Goreng fell in love with these one!

Prawn Hakau, 20.8k

We expect more than what we got that day. The shell was quite thick and the size was quite small.

Xiao Long Bao, 24k

We are a little disappointed with their Xiao Long Bao. The skin was too thick and the broth inside left a little sour taste. Maybe it was because they re-heat it so we could eat it while its hot.

Salted Egg Custard Bun, 19.8k

We love their bun. It was great, soft, and the filling was nice too. However, the filling wasn't generously given.

Tausa Bun, 18.8k

We love how they create different form for their bun. We got the hedgehog one for their tausa. The bun and the amount of the filling was the same as their salted egg custard bun.

Chicken feet, 17.8k

Specially made for all cartilage lover. The chicken feet and the sauce was perfectly matched.

After eating our dimsum, we moved on to their speciality. The Hongkong style shabu-shabu. Each person will be given 5 different kind of soup which are : Mala, Herbal, Chicken Broth, Satay, and Tomyum. For Shabu-shabu set (1 person) it will cost 99k. For Shabu-Shabu set (2 person) it will cost 189k.
We try all of their soup and here is the conclusion. Their herbal soup taste great, it will give you a boost for your day. If you happen to love spicy things, make sure you try their Mala soup. It will give you a big spicy kick! And for you who like to try new things, try their Satay soup (it is a little spicy). If you want to be ordinary, try their Chicken Broth of TomYum soup.

Beef Wagyu, 78k

Their beef wagyu was super tender and delicious. We personally love to compare it with their TomYum or Chicken Broth.

Chicken Wonton, 16.8k

We love the fact that the filling was generously given but not to much that the skin ripped off. For us, pair it with their Chicken Broth or Satay Soup. The best!

Nila Fish, (Seasonal Price)

Their Nila was great. The meat was tender and you don't have to worry to get your hands tired -cutting the body to make it smaller- as they already cut the body. The fish was big and enough for 2-3 person sharing.

Prawn Covered with Beef, 63.8k

Our favorite! The prawn texture was genius and the beef was tender. Everything is perfect. Best paired with their Mala, Herbal, or TomYum soup.
Overall we had a quite great feast. Their shabu-shabu was quite nice but their dimsum need a little improvement we think. Let's eat, foodies!
