Hello there! I got a chance to visit Lobo at The Ritz Carlton Mega Kuningan, Jakarta, to have a lunch together with some foodies. As I walk in, I was mesmerized by the interior of Ritz Carlton, particularly Lobo restaurant. It's super elegant, fancy, and contemporary.

As I approach the dining table, where some foodies have arrived before me, one waiter smoothly direct me to my chair. He slide the chair for me and as I sat down, he opened up the table napkin professionally. For the first impression, it was a very satisfying service.

Fresh Bread with Butter Selections - Complimentary

One of the waiter brought us a table full of fresh bread selections. They look so yummy and just came out from the oven! I tried some breads, and also with the butter selections. The butter flavors are ranging from original butter until onion butter-mix. A good start to fill your time and tummy, while waiting for the Appetizers.

APPETIZERs

Amouse Bouche (Three Small Bites)

Eventhough the size is small, but the flavor is rich! Super love the soup broth, it's so tasty and heart-warming. Feels like I'm home and my grandmother is cooking the soup for me. A great start for our lunch, indeed.

King Prawn Carpaccio - IDR 175,000

Who knows that this is actually a prawn? Made from Fresh Prawn, Mixed Leafs, Dried Pineapple, Keffir Lime Oil, Lime Cilantro Dressing, and Peanut, this dish is super refreshing & watery, definitely could taste the prawn once you bite on the food. The presentation is unique, the salad is also fresh, and that dried pineapple is to die for.

Creamy Soup of Wild Mushroom - IDR 150,000

The Chef who served us today originally came from France. He said, in France, whenever and wherever you eat, you must start with a soup. That's why, he personally cooked for us this smooth, tasty, and flavorful mushroom soup. Consist of Roasted Mushroom, Cappucino Foam, and Basil Oil, it's best served when warm. Honestly, this soup is going to my number 1 list as the most delicious & favorite soup.

Ah, before I move on to the next, mouth watering dish, I want to tell you that the uniqueness of Lobo Restaurant at Ritz Carlton Mega Kuningan Jakarta - and this one reason make me fell in love with Lobo Restaurant - is their service & presentation. They don't serve us the food like in a usual restaurant. They serve the food, and then do some "Attraction" in front of us, for example adding the spices to our food, or even pouring the soup to our bowl, grated the cheese for our tortellini, and so on. They're showing that their food is fresh and their service is number one. Wow - super exciting and makes you feel deeply valued, right?

MAINCOURSEs

Foei Gras Tortellini - IDR 225,000

Made from Home-made Pasta, Foei Gras Sauce, Orange, and Grated Cheese (optional), Foei Gras is one of my favorite dish ever, but this one is definitely a total bomb! You gotta eat it one whole at a time, and surprisingly it will pop out in your mouth! Yes, you'll taste the sensation of the sauce blends together with the duck flavour - all around your mouth. I could say that the sensation is priceless.

Option I : Crispy Half Suckling Pig - IDR 875,000

Calling all the pork lovers!! If you are one of the pork squad, then you definitely need to try Lobo Crispy Half Sucking Pig with Apple Puree, Pineapple Lemongrass Puree, and Suckling Pig Gravy. The skin is so crispy, oily and tasty and that pig meat... so tender and juicy! A well-match with the gravy. However, I honestly said I don't like both puree's. According to my taste, savoury dish could not blend well with a sweet taste.

Option II : Grilled Fish (Seasonal)

Relax, for those who couldn't eat or doesn't like eating pork, you could also have the Grilled Fish as your main course. The fish availability is according to the season. It's perfectly grilled and the fish meat is super tender. Melts in your mouth!

DESSERTs

Mango Sorbet

A while after we finish our main course and having an interesting talk, the waiter came again to serve the dessert. As we are waiting for some "dessert performance" from the kitchen crew, Lobo restaurant serve a refreshing mango sorbet. To re-fresh our appetite.

Infused Ice Cream - in Art Platter - IDR 235,000

The kitchen crew brought a large table with lots of kitchen tools. The marketer from Ritz Carlton told us that the dessert we're going to enjoy is an Infused Ice Cream with Art Platter. As starter, there's a how to make infused ice cream demo (super fun!).

While one kitchen crew made / infused the ice cream, the other one start to make the art on the plate. He put varieties of sauce, some chocolate powder, lemon ice cream, and fruits.

Finally, the infused ice cream is on the plate, and we could smash the ice cream ball so it could break to pieces, making the art platter complete.

Taste refreshing, and the kitchen crew live performance or the process in making the infused ice cream art platter is super fun! A really great dessert choice to close our lunch session.

It was raining hard when I arrived at Kitchenette, but I’m not gloomy because of the warm welcome from Kitchenette’s crew!
Puri indah Mall is not really my usual territory to hunt food, but there’s an Open Rice Gathering at Kitchenette that day, and I can’t wait to meet some new people & of course, taste the food there! ;)

Appetizers

SPAM Fries turkey with ariracha mayo
Honestly, I just know that there’s a brand of fries turkey called Spam. Thanks to Kitchenette so that I could know about this! A recommended finger food if you are bored with the usual ones.

“Nacho Style” crispy potato chips with chili con carne de jalapenos
Believe me, I just can’t stop eating the Nachos! I personally think their Nachos are home-made, because it doesn’t taste like other restaurant’s nachos. Topped with lots of minced meat and cheese, its damn finger licking good!! Definitely one of the most recommended menus here in Kitchenette.

Fresh Kale Salad with goat cheese, red beans, corn, cucumber & french vinaigrette dressing
I only eat vegetables salad if it’s crunchy, and it definitely is. A good starter especially if you would love to have something fresh before continuing to your main course.

Main Course

Antoine-ego galettes with chicken ham, mozzarella cheese, mushroom caviar & truffle oil
I got a special and rare chance to witness the making of the Galettes. The head chef of Kitchenette’s explain all the making process and also the differences between Galettes & Crepes clearly (Should I let you know what is the differences? ;p)

The taste is also delicious, well, what could be better than ham, cheese, and mushroom? Best served while still warm.

Kitchenette Fish & Chips with spicy coleslaw & lemon dill tartar sauce
Nothing could go wrong with Fish and Chips. You’ll always love to have this one anytime anywhere. Just don’t forget to squeeze the lemon and dip the fish to the tartar sauce! Yummmm.

Spaghetti with giant silican beef meatballs, parmesan & wafu tomato sauce
The spaghetti was cooked al dente, which is great. For me, the size of the meatballs is too big (I know, the name is giant anyway, hahaha) until I feel overwhelmed with the texture and the taste. It would be nicer if the size is smaller.

Indian red curry cod with eggplant, carrot, red rice & homemade yogurt sauce
For you who wants to try something unique from Kitchenette, this Indian menu is worth to try. Taste great and flavorful, and the cod fish is super tender and delicate. A nice combination with the red rice (I love eating red rice!)

Southern Boneless fried chicken with crushed potatoes, sauteed spinach, spicy mayo & gravy
I always appreciate restaurants or any food stall who served boneless fried chicken. Yes, we could just eat it so easy without any of our finger got involved in the eating process, lol! Taste great and just dip it into the sauce, because it could balance the taste and it taste great!

Drinks

Lychee sensation smoothies
I think it’s more into a mix between lychee and strawberry, since the taste of the Lychee in the drink isn’t that strong. It’s recommended for those who wants to have a refreshing and healthy smoothies.

Grandpa Luigi’s iced coffee
If you love coffee, then you need to order this one, because it taste like an Americano and really bitter. I love it when a coffee taste bitter like a “Kopi Tubruk”. Don’t worry though, you still could add some sugar and it’s also served with vanilla ice cream.

Desserts

Marie-Lou Crepe
Besides the Galettes’ making process, I also could watch the making of their signature dish, Marie-Lou Crepe. I personally recommend this menu since this menu is a dessert (and I love eating dessert!) and the elements there includes caramalized banana (drools!!) ice cream, choco and caramel sauce. Great combination!!

Actually, there are two more desserts served by Kitchenette which are carrot cake and nutella mousse cake (only hearing the name makes me drool!!). However, there’s no review about the other two desserts since I left earlier because I still have another appointment that day sad

Overall, I’m super happy with the food and also the service from Kitchenette. I wish that I could come back and eat more of that Marie-Lou Crepe and have their unbeatable Nachos!!

- - Stay awake for another food journey!

My relatives live near Kelapa Gading area, that is why when I was in Jakarta, I visit Kelapa Gading mall a lot. Sometimes, I do nothing, so I just look around the mall, refresh my mind, and try lots of food there. Penang bistro is located on the ground floor, and the area is kind of hidden, but still strategic because it’s near the stairs to the parking area.
I never tried Penang Bistro before, that is why we decided to eat here instead.
Singapore Fried Bee Hoon – IDR 50,000

You need to squeeze “jeruk nipis” on top of your bee hoon, to add more flavors into it (supaya lebih ga eneg gitu deh dimulut dan perut). The portion is big enough to share with 2 – 3 persons, and its super flavorful.
Sapo Tofu – IDR 56,000

I don’t like to eat Tofu except if it was Tahu Pong, Japanese Tofu, and any other types of Tofu except the ones on the traditional market. Yeah, I’m not really a fan of tofu. I’d prefer Tempe so much more rather than Tofu. That’s why I kinda selective in choosing the Tofu.
Not a surprise anymore, their Sapo Tofu is also great. I love the vegetables around it, feels like this dish is super healthy!
Ayam Goreng Penang

The taste is great, but not that punching. I think they should add more flavor into it. Alert: There’s no washing area around Penang Bistro. So if you want to eat this by hand, then you must go to a far far away restroom just to clean your fingers.
Ice Merah Delima – IDR 35,000

The order came out a bit long – I also think they forget this order, because I need to remind the waiter – but it’s kind of worth the wait. Taste great, so Indonesian. Even though I don’t get any other fruits like stated on the menu, I’m still fine. But I wish to have a complete package like the jackfruit, and so on.
Service
The waiter forget about our order and we need to remind her. However, the waiter is patiently describe the condition and I think it’s fine as long as she’s showing up.
Ambiance

I really love the decoration – I feel like inside a palace. It’s truly elegant, and a nice place to have a serious / even business talk with your partners.

If you’re looking for a nice, super affordable place to eat dessert in Grand Indonesia, I think Petit Julien is the right choice. The location is on the lower ground, next to the supermarket and also Kinokuniya book store. This place is not big at all, and only a few seats (maybe max 20 seats?) and all arranged for 2 until 5 people per tables.

I’ve known this place online, and the comments about the place is great, so many people love the waffle here, since it’s also the main menu of this place.
Belgian Waffle , ChocoChip – IDR 30,000

The difference between the waffle is that, the one I ordered only has 1 pieces, but it’s big and crunchy. The other type, which is Brussels (if I’m not mistaken) has 2 small pieces and very tender. So it depends on you, which one do you prefer, the warm and tender or the crunchy wafer.
As a dessert lover, I must say that I really love the taste of the waffle. It’s match with the ice cream, the crumbs, and also the chocolate sauce. Super delicious and I just couldn’t stop eating it again and egain!
Chocolate Mousse – IDR 20,000

Here’s the better news, they’ll add 20% discounts after 7 p.m if you order this menu. I don’t know if this is still valid until now, but you might want to ask the crew there. Lumayan kan dapat diskon ? ;)
So yes, the chocolate mousse will only become 16,000 !! Super great, right? It’s really creamy, a true comfort food for me. I’d like to order this one again if I’m around Grand Indonesia.
Service

The crews there are really friendly and kind. They took our order nicely, and also make our order pretty fast. When I ask one of them for a spoon to eat the chocolate mousse while walking around the mall, she also directly give it to me with smile.
Ambiance

A great place for those who want to hang out alone or maybe 2 – 3 persons, more private, tetapi tidak menjebolkan kantong! It’s also a hidden location, and there’s not much noise here.

For those who hang out with friends, I think the perfect choices would be the outdoor or open space restaurant. There are a lot of choices here, and because I am a “boarding house people” (read: anak kos-kosan) then my choice goes to Kafe Betawi, in the 1st floor of Kemang Village, outdoor / open space area.
Offering more affordable prices rather than the other restaurants, I could enjoy a great view outside or inside the restaurant, together with my friend. I choose inside because I love their wall wallpaper, it’s so vintage and antique! Besides, my friend is kinda feeling not really well, and the wind is a bit strong that day.
Soto Mie – IDR 42,000

My friend order a Soto Mie, because she got a flu and she think it’s better to order a Soto. Yeah, I totally agree with her. A warm bowl of Soto Mie, with fresh tomato and beef slices would be really great! The taste of Soto Mie is perfect, and the beef is also a lot, too! What a perfect combination!
Mie Tek Tek – IDR 40,000

Mie Tek Tek in Jakarta is a bit different than in Surabaya. In Jakarta, the soup for Mie Tek Tek is creamier. I could say it’s more to a gravy rather than a soup. However, I really love the taste, it makes me feel home, and I never go home for this past 3 months T.T. I can taste the tender chicken underneath the noodle. The portion is just balance between the meat and the noodle. Thumbs up! I also ask for additional “cabe rawit potong” and the waiter respond super nicely! Thanks!
Service
It’s super great and the waiter is very friendly. They also listen to our order carefully and willing to take pictures for us. And yes, thumbs up for that additional “Cabe rawit potong!”
Ambiance

It’s located on the second floor of Kemang Village, and it also has an open door area for those who like to smoke. At that time, we choose to sit inside since it’s more comfortable and there’s not much wind inside. It also has a nice Indonesian decoration, which is very nice and very traditional.
