I’ve heard about Paulaner for quite a while from a friend. Not only that, lots of people also said that it’s a great place to spend Friday or even Saturday evenings. First, you need to get inside a bookstore to reach this restaurant.
Paulaner Platter - IDR 275,000

 
Even though they call it as a platter, but honestly the portion is not that big (I imagine it will be bigger and more meat on the plate). I think this is suitable to share with maximum 2 persons, not more than that, because you won’t full by just eating this one. In addition, the pork skin is kinda hard to chew.
Paulaner Beef & Chicken Grill for Two - IDR 198,000

 
The portion is kinda the same with Paulaner Platter. I think, it also has the similar taste too. I imagine I’d have a nice, grilled beef and also chicken. The taste is just fine and it’s great, but I don’t find the WOW moment or the characteristic of a nice, perfectly grilled beef & chicken meat.
Dark Beer - IDR 95,000
This one is not pricey, because the beer portion is 0.5 litre. I think this is the right drink that you must order in Paulaner. It’s time to cheers with your friends on Friday night while watching live music, right?
Ambiance

 
I went here around 6p.m , and there's a live music here! (I didn't know what time it's started) You can request a song through the waiter, and they will sing it for you if they know the song!The restaurant is really crowded, but the serving is really nice, the waiter is willing to take us a picture
Concept
I know that it's a Germany kind of restaurant, but I feel like I'm in Mexico or something (Well, forget about the cowboy hat and stuffs)
What I mean is the decoration and the lighting that they set around us.
Also the plating, the beer glass. Love the concept, totally i don't feel I was in Grand Indonesia, hahaha!
Overall, I believe we pay more for the place to "nongkrong" and also the live music.

For those who hang out with friends, I think the perfect choices would be the outdoor or open space restaurant. There are a lot of choices here, and because I am a “boarding house people” (read: anak kos-kosan) then my choice goes to Kafe Betawi, in the 1st floor of Kemang Village, outdoor / open space area.
Offering more affordable prices rather than the other restaurants, I could enjoy a great view outside or inside the restaurant, together with my friend. I choose inside because I love their wall wallpaper, it’s so vintage and antique! Besides, my friend is kinda feeling not really well, and the wind is a bit strong that day.
Soto Mie – IDR 42,000

 
My friend order a Soto Mie, because she got a flu and she think it’s better to order a Soto. Yeah, I totally agree with her. A warm bowl of Soto Mie, with fresh tomato and beef slices would be really great! The taste of Soto Mie is perfect, and the beef is also a lot, too! What a perfect combination!
Mie Tek Tek – IDR 40,000

 
Mie Tek Tek in Jakarta is a bit different than in Surabaya. In Jakarta, the soup for Mie Tek Tek is creamier. I could say it’s more to a gravy rather than a soup. However, I really love the taste, it makes me feel home, and I never go home for this past 3 months T.T. I can taste the tender chicken underneath the noodle. The portion is just balance between the meat and the noodle. Thumbs up! I also ask for additional “cabe rawit potong” and the waiter respond super nicely! Thanks!
Service
It’s super great and the waiter is very friendly. They also listen to our order carefully and willing to take pictures for us. And yes, thumbs up for that additional “Cabe rawit potong!”
Ambiance

 

 
It’s located on the second floor of Kemang Village, and it also has an open door area for those who like to smoke. At that time, we choose to sit inside since it’s more comfortable and there’s not much wind inside. It also has a nice Indonesian decoration, which is very nice and very traditional.

Nomz is a restaurant in Grand Indonesia that belongs to Chef Arnold, one of the judges at Masterchef Indonesia.
I always become a fan of Chef Arnold, so I’m really happy to visit this place!

 
(Brunch Menu) Braised pork belly with sunny side up, pickled carrot, cucumber, coriander, sambal, and sourdough - IDR 85,000

 
The dressing / salad:
It’s so refreshing! It will balance all the taste inside the plate. Even though I’m not a fan of vegetables and I don’t finish eating the whole salad, but I can eat all the carrot inside it. Yes, I’m too in love with the taste.
The bread
Honestly I don’t really know the name for this kind of bread. The colour is yellow in the middle because of the butter, and I really like it! Well, as you know I’m kind of dessert person, I definitely love butter.
The sunny side up / egg:
It taste great! I love the fact that the yellow part still juicy. Well cook, but some of the side burns, becomes a bit black, and taste bitter.
The pork belly:
Well, this is worth a try! I really love the pork belly. It’s so tender, well cook, well seasoning, and the most important thing it has this layer of pork fat that I really love! Too bad it’s only 2 slices :’(
I crave for more!
Fish and Chips

 
Taste super crispy and the fish meat is super tender. I don’t really like the plating though, because it’s somehow looks “cheap” - I don’t know -. The french fries also really has a great flavour!
Beverages - Apple Juice IDR 55,000
Actually, I want to try their Salted Caramel Milkshake. But it was sold out and they haven’t restock it yet sad(
My second choice was actually soda, but I’m not allowed to drink soda because of several reasons this time, that’s why I choose their apple juice.
When the drink come, I ask the waiter whether it’s really Apple juice or not. It’s because the color is green. A bit weird, right? I bet they’re using green apple to make the apple juice.
Honestly, it can taste better if the apple taste sweet. At that time, the apple is a bit sour.

Even though the place is always crowded, the waiter manage to serve us really well.
Ambiance:

 
I believe this restaurant is a Western concept, looking at the furnitures and also the ambiance that they would like to emphasize. What I love the most, I could see Chef Arnold in the kitchen, working! OH MY GOD How lucky I am!!

PorQueNo : A True Spanish Dish! Smile Aug 31, 2015

As I arrived on the 5th Floor, I’m really surprised to see how fancy Por.Que.No is! They have a superb view of their surroundings – tall buildings and the night lights. It’s has a different atmosphere up here. They have an outdoor bar and table too, which is super nice! I can say that this place is so artsy ;)
I think it’ll be better for them to have the Por.Que.No sign so people know there’s a fancy restaurant up there! Let’s go to the Food Review!
Appetizers
A Tree Arbol de Aceitunas Alinadas (Olives Tree) – IDR 30,000

 
Disguise as a tree, this is actually an Appetizer – yes, can you believe that? Consists of green and a black olives, you can eat this while waiting for the other food, or even when you want to take a photo around the place.
Trilogia de Gazpacho (Trilogy of Cold Soups) – IDR 60,000

 
If you see the cold soup, do you remember about chemistry subject? (#deritaanakIPA , I know) I suspect this is a drink, because they have a fruit in the top of it. Surprise-surprise, it’s actually a cold soup! The white one is Almond Soup, and the Orange one is Tomato Soup. I taste both, and I like the Tomato Soup more. The soup taste like cold mayonnaise somehow – maybe because of the texture – but of course with a Tomato and Almond taste. So unique!
Cucurucho de Foei con Jamon (Cone of Foei Gras Mousse Topped with Serrano Ham) – IDR 55,000
This looks like an ice cream cone, isn’t it? Topped with ham (pork meat) I could finish this one in just two bites (Even 1 bite!) It’s so creamy but I wish I could get more ham, hahaha!
Ensaladas - IDR 50,000

 
Served in a transparent jar, they offer two kinds of Salad, one with the strawberries, and one with the avocado. Each has a sauce, and you can pour the sauce inside the jar, then shake it off (Shake it off, shake it off – I don’t know why I’m singing Taylor Swift song while writing this. Hahahaha). As I don’t eat avocado, I choose the Strawberry Salad. Believe me, you might find it awkward to eat the leaves, because it’s literally taste like a fresh leaves from the tree! Refreshing!
Surtido de Croquetas (Platter of assorted croquettes beef, seafood, mushroom) – IDR 75,000
Put inside a stainless glass, this appetizer is definitely for share. You could found three kinds of croquetas: Seafood, mushroom, and beef. Taste great, especially the seafood. It’s rich and kinda creamy inside.
Albondigas (Beef Meatballs in sweet tomato sauce) – IDR 60,000
The beef is tender (feels like beef nugget), and blends well with the tomato sauce. However, I think it’ll be better if it’s served with teriyaki sauce! (But it’ll be fattier and not healthy, of course hahaha)
Berenjenas Fritas (Fried Eggplant Chips with Honey Truffle) – IDR 40,000
The eggplants may not look fancy, but the taste won’t fail you! It’s not crispy; the texture is soft, but delicious! I can’t stop eating this one over and over again. I don’t like eggplants, but this one is an exception.
Calameres en su Tinta (Squid in its Own Ink) – IDR 60,000

 
My foodie friends Mark & Bianca told me that this dish is the same with a Philiphine dish, so of course they love it! So the squid is covered with (saus hitam).The squid is tender, however the black sauce is having too much garlic for my taste.
Tortilla Espanola (Spanish Omelette) – IDR 35,000
Looks like a cake, this dish is actually like a mash potato combined with onion. You can eat it with the Spanish Mayonnaise (the different with ordinary mayonnaise is that, this mayo doesn’t use cream, so it’s healthier). Taste great, I think it’s perfect for a lunch appetizer ;)
Gambas al Ajillo (Sauteed prawns in garlic, chili, and white wine) – IDR 85,000
As a seafood lover, I believe you will love this! Just dip it with the sauce and yum, I could feel the oil spread through my mouth!
Salmorejo (Andalucian tomato dip with crumbles of serrano ham, apples, and eggs) – IDR 80,000
You can eat the crispy bread together with the tomato sauce, and give some toppings of ham, apples and eggs on the top. I think the Tomato Sauce taste like mayonnaise I suggest you put a lot of toppings so you could get the yummy taste of it.
Main Course
Paella Ciega LARGE (Blind Seafood Paella) – IDR 660,000

 
The waiter will mix the rice and the shrimp in front of you, then squeeze some Lemon on top of it. The portion is super huge, and it’s really perfect for sharing!
The taste is almost the same with Nasi Goreng, but with a stickier texture. It tastes better when you combined it with the Spanish Mayonnaise.
Dessert
Natillas ( lemon custard with meringue, roasted almonds and caramel) - IDR 40,000

 
I love the texture, love the presentation, and I love it because it’s super smooth and melts in the mouth.
Chocolate con chile - IDR 50,000

 
Looks like a cronut with chocolate-chilli sauce, and served with ice cream, this dish has a unique taste. In the first bite, you will feel that the dark-comforting chocolate all over your mouth. After that, the chilli taste will strike through and surprise you! At first, I find it weird, but after the second bite with the vanilla ice cream, it’s yummy!
Churros - IDR 20,000

 
Who doesn’t love churros? I bet everyone loves it. The cinnamon smells great, and it’s so crunchy! I will never get bored eating the churros ;)
As dessert lovers, I really love their desserts and crave for some more! I wonder if Spanish has a traditional ice cream or not… hahahaha. Dessert is always a great choice to end the day, right? ;)
Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice - IDR 40,000

 
The orange juice is refreshing, and it’s a perfect choice if you want to eat a lot in Por.Que.No However if you just hanging out with friends and chit-chat, I recommend you to open the wine bottle and just enjoy the scenery or drink beer together, admiring the city view!

Service

 
You could see how they works because the kitchen to make the drink is somehow an open area. The waiter and the owner are also friendly too and will explain their favorite dish to you.

Ambiance

 
Overall, I can say that PorQueNo has a really strong taste of Spanish. If you’re Indonesian that wants to feel Spanish and know how the food tastes like, you should go here! If you’re Spanish who miss your hometown while pursuing your study / career in Jakarta, you can feel your hometown through food at Por.Que.No!

Salmon Sashimi - IDR 68,000

 
Who doesn’t love raw Salmon? Well, I surely do! Hahahaha!
Popcorn Shrimp Okonomiyaki - IDR 78,000

 
Japanese love ginger. That’s why, inside the okonomiyaki you can taste the ginger. However, it’s not overpowering so don’t worry ;). I love how crispy and crunchy the texture of the Okonomiyaki crust’s. My favorite one is ofcourse the popcorn shrimp on top of it. It’s really crispy but somehow creamy. I think it’s because of the mayo combination that gives the creaminess of the popcorn shrimp. If you miss Japan and wants to taste a great okonomiyaki, that this one is a nice choice.
My favorite sushi menus in Tokyo Belly !!

 
Rock & Roll - IDR 48,000

Do you love beef? Then this Sushi could be your favorite one, since it’s filled with beef and also have enoki mushroom! Yes, enoki and beef - what could gone wrong with that?
Dazzling - IDR 48,000
Guess what? The half round shape of the yellow thing above is actually an egg! Very cute, isn’t it? This is a roll fried salmon sushi with crispy panko, and it does taste crunchy. I think it’ll be a nice choice if you don’t like raw sushi.
Salmon Oyako - IDR 88,000
Wrapped with fresh salmon and topped by grilled cheese & salmon roe, this sushi is super light and refreshing. Since I love sushi, salmon is definitely one of my favorite ;)
Main Course
Carbonara Ramen - IDR 68,000

 
Carbonara? Isn’t it a pasta? Well, that’s the uniqueness of this menu! Even though Carbonara is usually used for a pasta, surprisingly it was also good when served with Ramen! I could taste how creamy and milky the soup is, and the half cook egg-yolk, they’re definitely my fave!
Crispy Cheesy Curry Dory Bi-Bim-Bap - IDR 69,000

 
There’s only one word to describe this - Yummy! I just couldn’t stop eating the rice and the curry gravy. The dory itself is super crispy, and I think this is a perfect main course for all ages. It’s a bi-bim-bap that you can’t resist!
Salmon Tamatoji - IDR 78,000

 
Directly cooked on top of the hotpot, you could taste the smoothness of the eggs and feel the salmon inside of it. It’s a perfect, hot soup & meal, especially when your stomach is not in a good condition. It’s a comfort food especially for your stomach ;)
Dessert
Earthquake Hanito - IDR 58,000
This is one of the most favorite dessert in Tokyo Belly. It’s also really perfect for sharing, because the portion is super big! The bread is surprisingly buttery and the texture is really soft. I could visit Tokyo Belly again just to eat this dessert.
Fondue
Fondue is like a number one dessert in Jakarta these days. We order the Green Tea Fondue with some marshmallows, strawberries, kiwies, and peaches.
Here’s a secret : if you also order the earthquake hanito, try to dip the bread inside the green tea fondue. Taste great? Yes, your welcome!
Beverages
Strawberry Breeze - IDR 39,000

 
After feeling guilty eating all of the delicious food in Tokyo Belly, then let’s end it with zipping a healthy strawberry juice. Their juice menus are all the favorite beverages menu here, so feel free to pick whatever juice you wants!

Service

The waiter is attentive and she could recommend and explain the menus for us. I think the waiter really understand the menus.

Ambiance

 
Overall, I would really like to recommend Tokyo Belly to all of you, especially if you’re craving for an authentic Japanese Food or even desserts! You know, Earthquake Hanito and the fondue is always a perfect comfort food to end the day ;)
