Holdak

(It's not duck..... It's chicken)

It has been a long time since I have been to Pluit Village, I used to come to this mall very often, like almost every week during my childhood. (if I'm not mistaken, the name was Mega Mall at that time) Strangely, this mall was less crowded than it was, even though it's weekend and they had event that day, the mall was not fully packed with people.

Holdak Signature Salad (IDR 10k)Holdak Signature Salad

Holdak Signature Salad consists of shredded lettuce and carrot topped with mayonnaise sauce. It tasted pretty delicious and I super love the mayonnaise sauce! It was a great choice that I ordered salad to accompany my Mini Holdak, because the salad did a great job in balancing the strong taste of the sauce.Holdak Signature Salad

Emporium Pluit Mall is currently having tenant transition, there are various of new restaurants opening their outlet here substituting the old restaurant who decided to close their outlet. Coincidentally, I was craving for noodle that day and I was contemplating a lot whether to try Menya Sakura Ramen or Torico (both are new restaurants at Emporium Pluit Mall), but finally I decided to try Torico as they claim that Japanese Noodle and Rice are their specialties. The restaurant itself is not really hard to find, I bet you won't have any difficulties in finding this restaurant.I just found out that Torico has other outlets at Mall Ciputra and fX Sudirman, so I reckon the one at Emporium was their third outlet. The restaurant itself has two kinds of dining area, the first is located inside the restaurant and another one located right in front of the restaurant, I reckon they can accommodate 60-80 people. The interior is modern, simple and I didn't see any hints of Japanese decoration inside the restaurant. It was not really crowded that day and I got a seat near the window when the sun has almost set. (yay! dinner with beautiful scenery!)

Let's get started with their food!
Salmon Enoki Roll (IDR 30k)Actually, I ordered this because I saw those super sexy crispy things inside the sushi in the picture on the menu and as expected, it tasted pretty delicious. The topping consists of salmon and fried enoki. Unfortunately, the rice was a little bit hard and dry, so the sushi can be broken easily. The crispiness of the fried enoki was perfect and I love how the salmon had a minimal amount of fishy smell. Well, any kinds of food with fried things just can't go wrong, don't you think so? (at least for me!)

The interior is mostly filled with wood material and other Japanese decorations. The restaurant itself is small, I reckon they can accommodate around 20-30 people. It was not really crowded that day, I didn't see any customer(s) when I arrived, but after awhile I could see some people dine in at the restaurant.

Without further ado, let's talk about their food!

Kimuchi Ramen (IDR 59k)

The Kimuchi Ramen is a mixture of Japanese and Korean food, there are kimchi, shallots and slices of fish inside the ramen. The taste was.... weird, the broth was too watery, too sour, but a bit bland, I don't know how to describe this, but it was weird. The noodle was firm enough and the slices of fish were generously given, but unfortunately, it was not enough to elevate the taste of this dish.

Pasta Ebi Awuk (IDR 69k)

I honestly don't know what is "Awuk", (if you do, please let me know) but this Pasta Ebi Awuk was quite delicious, the prawns was big and it was seasoned nicely, but I felt the seasoning was too light and I guess I would like it more if the seasoning was bolder.

Overall, my visit to Sumo Sushi was okay, the food they served was definitely not the best Japanese food that I ever had, but some of them was unique. The service was okay as well, the waiter was friendly but they were slow in serving and responding to customer demands, especially when we had to call the waiter several times to get our ocha refilled. I believe they still have a lot of time to improve and I do hope they will maintain the uniqueness of their food, but with upgraded taste!

It was a busy day in the office and I decided to go out for a meal after I get off work. Having heard about this restaurant from my friend before, I decided to have an early dinner at Social House that day. The restaurant itself is a bit hard to find due to renovation that blocked the way to get to the restaurant, so you have to use the lift near Gramedia to reach Social House. You will be welcomed by Social House signpost and alley which will lead you to the restaurant.

Let's move on to the food!

Capricciosa Pizza (IDR 99k)
The Capricciosa Pizza is a thin-crust pizza topped with tomatoes, mozzarella, ham, sausage, spicy pork salami (you can choose whether you want pork salami or beef salami), red peppers, boiled eggs, basil and chili oil. The portion was quite huge and I bet it is enough for 2 people. I didn't know if the boiled eggs were supposed to be hard-boiled or soft-boiled, but it was oozy and a little bit soft, still, I didn't have any complain regarding the semi soft-boiled eggs, because it was delicious!

Lobbyn Kitchen & Bar is a restaurant that is located in Fave Hotel Kemang and also served as the hotel banquet. The restaurant has 2 kinds of dining area, the first one is indoor area which is located on the 1st floor and the second one is rooftop area which is located on the 7th floor. I opted for the rooftop area because the indoor area is just common and too mainstream for me.

Watermelon Slush (IDR 30k)
Yes, it tasted like a normal watermelon juice as well, I clearly saw they put this menu under mocktail section, so I expected this will be different than normal watermelon juice. It's pretty disappointing, but it's a nice and refreshing drink though.
