Mapogalmaegi

(Calling out all pork lovers in Jakarta!)

Say hello to Mapogalmaegi, a Korean BBQ restaurant originated from Korea has finally opened their first outlet in Indonesia! Their first outlet is located at Pantai Indah Kapuk, a famous dining spot in North Jakarta. The restaurant is not really hard to find, it is located near the famous dessert shop Shirokuma, I bet you won't have any difficulties in finding this restaurant.

The restaurant is not really big but it is spacey enough, I reckon they can accommodate up to 50 people. Each table is equipped with grill and you can choose whether you want the meat to be grilled in your table or not. Of course we opted the meat to be grilled in our table (in order to take good pictures of sizzling meat!), even though it was quite hot because of the grill. It just doesn't feel right if you go to Korean BBQ restaurant and had your meat grilled somewhere else, don't you think so?There were various banchan (Korean side-dishes) and sauces served on the table and most of them tasted pretty delicious. I personally had a crush on their gochujang sauce, it was not too spicy and made a great pairing for the meat. Oh, and can you see outer ring on the grill? It is used to make a super delicious kimchi omelette. (what a unique way to make omelette, huh?)

We ordered four kinds of meat which are Mapokalsamgyeopsal (Mapo Pork Belly), Mapojumeokgogi (Special Pork Collar), Hanjungsal (Jowls Skinless) and Mapodaejigalbi (Mapo Marinated Prime Short Rib) and all of them were super delicious!

Mapokalsamgyeopsal (IDR 95.8k)Mapokalsamgyeopsal

I'm not a big fan of pork belly because it had so much fat, but I have to say that this one was pretty good. The meat was tender, chewy and flavorful!

Mapodaejigalbi

This one was grilled last and it was my favorite that day! The ribs meat was super tender, soft and nicely marinated. It was rich in flavor and it tasted amazing even without any dipping sauce. Oh, I'm craving for this meat now!

The hanjungsal tasted pretty decent as well, it was a bit hard to differentiate the taste of this meat with samgyeopsal, but both of them was delicious!Hanjungsal

Honestly, it was my first time trying pork collar meat, and it was a delightful first experience, because it was delicious!

Overall, I really enjoyed my visit to Mapogalmaegi, the food they served tasted super delicious especially the meat, service was quick and great, and the place was nice. I don't think many people have known about this amazing restaurant considering the place is not really crowded even it was weekend. Seriously, this restaurant is like a hidden gem and I recommend all of you to try their Korean food, because it was so good!

Breakfast

Good news for all of us! Carnivor has launched a new breakfast menu! (yay!) You can enjoy their breakfast menu every Tuesday - Sunday starting from 07.30 - 11.00 AM. Carnivor is located in Pantai Indah Kapuk, one of the hippest place in North Jakarta. Actually, It hasn't been long since my last visit here and I noticed that there were some improvements such as their brand new breakfast menu and new electronic menu book!

The decoration is full of vintage things and wood-colored material, and I noticed that the old-fashioned gramophone and old typing machine was still there. Almost all their new breakfast menu contains egg in it, so if you are an egg-lovers, I bet you will love it! Well, breakfast just doesn't feel complete without egg, don't you think so?

Let's get started with their new breakfast menu!

Shakshouka (IDR 68k)

Shakshouka

Shakshouka is a famous Tunisian dish for breakfast which consists of sizzling pan of homemade tomato, onion, sausage, ham, crowned with two eggs and served along with toast and salad. The presentation was unique as they use sizzling pan and (gosh!) everything inside the pan was simply awesome!

Shakshouka

Overall, I really enjoyed my visit to Carnivor, the new breakfast menu tasted pretty delicious and some were super delicious, the service was great and the place was cozy. There are a lot of other restaurants that served breakfast menu, but I personally had a crush on breakfast menu that are served by Carnivor, because it was super delicious! (I don't even know how many 'delicious' word that I have said in this post!)

Thanks for having me Carnivor!

It's been a long time since I have gone to Mall Taman Anggrek and I could see there were many new restaurants have opened their outlet here. Having heard about this restaurant before, we decided to have a dinner at Popolamama. The restaurant is located on the fourth floor, exactly next to Sticky and if I'm not mistaken, the place was once occupied by Ajisen Ramen. Popolamama is an Italian restaurant originated from Japan, and it has specialty in serving Italian Fresh Pasta & Homemade Pizza.

The restaurant has open kitchen concept with a clean kitchen and experienced staff. (their hands were moving pretty fast when they're preparing the dish!) The restaurant itself is quite big, I reckon they can accommodate up to 80 people. The decoration was simple yet elegant, various cooking utensils were used as decoration in this restaurant. It was super crowded at that time, maybe because it's weekend, and we had to wait for 10 minutes before we got seated.

Let's get started with their fresh pasta and homemade pizza!

Neapolitan with Chicken Sausage Pasta (IDR 52k)

This one was served along with huge chunks of chicken sausage and topped with tomato-based sauce. The pasta itself was really great, I could tell that it was really fresh. The sourness from tomato-based sauce was really well-adjusted, it was not overly sour yet still had strong hint of tomato flavor. Overall, this menu tasted pretty decent, the chicken sausage was nice though I'm not really impressed.

Wafu Soy Sauce Based Pasta with Smoked Beef, Spinach and Rucola (IDR 52k)

This one was served along with slices of smoked beef, spinach and rucola (or arugula) and this one tasted super delicious. I would say this one was one of my favorites dishes that day. The smoked beef was thinly sliced and tasted heavenly delicious. The spinach and rucola tasted pretty decent though I'm not a big fan of green things and the sauce was just perfect!

Overall, I really enjoyed my visit to Popolamama, the food they served was pretty delicious and some were extraordinary, the service was really friendly and quick, and the price was quite affordable as well. Will there be next visit to Popolamama? I would say absolutely yes, Popolamama definitely become one of my favorite Italian Restaurants in Jakarta!

Crematology Coffee Roasters is a coffee shop owned by Mr. Elliot Davernas.

The owner was there at that time and he was sharing his interesting story and journey until he decided to open coffee shop in Indonesia named Crematology Coffee Roasters. The coffee shop itself is a little bit hard to find, you have to pay full attention to see the signage of this coffee shop. The interior itself is really intriguing and gives off cozy ambiance, it is mostly dominated with decorations that are made from wood. The place itself is not really big, I reckon they can accommodate up to 60 people. They have two kinds of dining area which is the indoor seating area and outdoor seating area. Thankfully, the event took place at the indoor seating area because I couldn't imagine if I have to sit at the outdoor seating area because it was freaking hot that day and I didn't see anyone dare to sit at the outdoor seating area.

Let's talk about their food!

Turkey SandwichThe Turkey Sandwich was presented nicely on a wooden cutting board and served along with french fries and fresh garden salad. The turkey itself was really fresh and tasted pretty delicious and I love how they added super good melted cheese on the sandwich. The french fries was really awesome as well, it was crispy and perfectly seasoned, not to mention they are pretty generous in giving the fries!

(Do you like teddy bear?) If yes, then you really have to visit this uber cute cafe which is located at Puri Indah Mall, Hans & Belle. You will find a lot of cute stuffs and teddy bears here, there are some sitting on the chair, some hanging on the ceiling and some are trapped on the display. I went to Puri Indah Mall with my family to find a nice place to hangout that day and because we already had our dinner before, we decided to pay a visit to this cafe only to try their desserts and beverages (at first), but we ended up ordering some side dishes. (I just can't stop eating recently!) The cafe itself is not really hard to find, especially with those bright signage and cute interior, it is located near the food court area at Puri Indah Mall. The cafe itself is quite big, I reckon they can accommodate up to 50 people, the seating are mainly divided as seating for 2 people, 4 people and 6 people. The decoration is mostly filled with teddy bears and other cute stuffs such as mini-train, I couldn't stop taking pictures of the decoration because it was so intriguing and cute. If I'm not mistaken, every table had one teddy bear which will accompany you while you were here, I got a cute brown-colored teddy bear on my table. It was quite crowded at that time, we have to wait for several minutes before we got seated.

Let's talk about their foods!

French Fries (IDR 18k)

Unfortunately, some menus were out of stock that day, so we only got a limited choices of menu and we ended up ordering French Fries. Thankfully, their french fries was not disappointing at all, the fries was nicely seasoned, had a perfect level of crispness and not oily at all. Even my parents acknowledged that their french fries was delicious. (woo-hoo!)
