Waffle & Co

(Do you like waffles?)

If yes, then you really have to go to Waffle & Co, a restaurant that specialized in serving authentic Belgian waffle. That day, I was initially planning to go to another place in South Jakarta, but because that place was unexpectedly super duper crowded at that time, I decided to try another restaurant nearby and my choice was Waffle & Co. The place itself is quite hard to find, but don't worry, just follow the map and I'm sure you won't be lost. (you can find the map on the lowermost of this post!)

The restaurant itself is big and spacey, I reckon they can accommodate up to 100 people. The interior is elegant, cozy and fancy, I noticed there were flowers, mini-utensils and several teddy bears used as the decoration. Everything about the decoration is pretty and nice, but unfortunately, I guess they don't separate the smoking area and non-smoking area, I noticed there were people smoking inside the restaurant. (and the smoke was circulated all over the restaurant)

Without further ado, let's talk about their food (and waffles)!

Potato Wedges (IDR 35k)

Potato Wedges

(What could be better than fried potatoes?)

For me, as a huge fan of potatoes, nothing can beat the goodness of fried potatoes. The potato wedges was topped with minced beef and served along with mayonnaise sauce. The potato wedges was perfectly crispy and the minced beef was flavorful and perfect, not to mention the super delicious mayonnaise sauce to accompany those potato wedges, I couldn't ask for more.

Apparently, Menya Sakura Ramen, a ramen shop originated from Japan has opened their outlet in Indonesia!ChopstickLet's get started with their food!

Green Tea Ice Cream (IDR 12k)Green Tea Ice Cream (Front), Mochi Green Tea Ice Cream with Red Bean (Back)Green Tea Ice Cream

The Green Tea Ice cream was topped with soybean powder and it was heavenly delicious! The green tea ice flavor was quite strong and the soybean powder definitely made everything better.

Mochi Green Tea Ice Cream with Red Bean

This one was supposed to be served along with mochi, soybean powder and red beans, but the mochi was out of stock that day, so they decided to substitute the absence of the mochi by giving more red beans. I didn't get to try this one, but I was told that it was delicious as well.Mochi Green Tea Ice Cream with Red Bean

Food

Overall, it was a nice visit to Menya Sakura, the food they served tasted pretty delicious and the service was okay as well. I believe Menya Sakura will be a strong contender for other ramen shops in Jakarta as they served unique and varied ramen-based dishes. I would love to come back to this place to have another experience of their ramen and the super delicious green tea ice cream!

Dessert house has become extremely popular these days, it can be seen from growing number of dessert houses in Jakarta. I am a huge fan of desserts and I love trying out new dessert houses in town. (though this one is not extremely new) I always wanted to try this dessert house since a long time ago, but I just couldn't make it due to several reasons. Finally, That day, I decided to try SnowBowl, a dessert house at Pantai Indah Kapuk. The place itself is can be easily noticed thanks to its bright snowy decoration.

The place is decorated with various white-colored things such as snowy tree, snowflake and cute little water fountain as you can see in the picture above. The place itself is not really big, I bet they can accommodate up to 50 people. It was not really crowded that day, I reckon only two tables were occupied by customers.

Let's get started with their desserts (and snack)!

SnowBowl Taro Ice - D08 (IDR 28k)

This dessert consist of taro-flavored ice, caramel pudding, heart-shaped Q-ball, peanut and zimi. (black glutinous rice) Kudos to their creative idea using homemade taro-flavored ice for the dessert. The caramel pudding was delicious and had a perfect level of sweetness and I super love the peanut. The taro-flavored ice was mild, it was not too strong but still had a hint of taro flavor. Overall, this dessert tasted pretty decent though it didn't left strong impression for me.

Overall, I really enjoyed my visit to SnowBowl, the desserts and snack was delicious, the service was friendly and the place was nice. It's good to know that they use homemade ice to promote healthy dessert. I will definitely come back to this place to have another bowl of their dessert and those freaking delicious popcorn chickens!

Last weekend, I had an appointment with my friends and we decided to had a dinner together at Port er House, a cool restaurant at Pantai Indah Kapuk. Strangely, the restaurant was not really crowded and I could barely see any customers inside the restaurant even though it was weekend. (and the waiter didn't even greet us, so we just sat and asked for menu by ourselves) The restaurant is located not far from Excelso Cafe and I bet you won't be lost while finding this restaurant.

The restaurant has two kinds of dining area, outdoor area (smoking area) and indoor area (non-smoking area), I reckon they can accommodate up to 100 people. The decoration is modern, simple and green! (there are plenty of plants in the outdoor area) The place is cozy enough and I bet I could spend hours here. I also found interesting fact during my visit, I could see that the waiters were not writing our order at all, so I reckon they memorized all of it. (wow!)

Port er House Pizza (IDR 62k)The topping consists of chicken, minced beef, pepperoni, bell pepper, black olive, mushroom and mozzarella cheese. The pizza was divided into 3 sections, the first section topped with minced beef, the second section topped with mushroom and bell pepper, and the third section topped with chicken. All sections were delicious, but I personally love the second section, the minced beef and pepperoni really made a great combination and it was super delicious.

Pizza A la Pollo (IDR 56k)The topping consist of grilled chicken breast, mushroom, bell pepper, tomato, oregano and melted cheese. The chicken breast was tender, but it was bland and plain, I bet it would be better if they put stronger seasoning to the chicken breast. Overall, the pizza tasted pretty decent, it was not outstanding, but it was okay.

Emporium Pluit Mall is currently having tenant transition, there are various of new restaurants opening their outlet here substituting the old restaurant who decided to close their outlet. Coincidentally, I was craving for noodle that day and I was contemplating a lot whether to try Menya Sakura Ramen or Torico (both are new restaurants at Emporium Pluit Mall), but finally I decided to try Torico as they claim that Japanese Noodle and Rice are their specialties. The restaurant itself is not really hard to find, I bet you won't have any difficulties in finding this restaurant.I just found out that Torico has other outlets at Mall Ciputra and fX Sudirman, so I reckon the one at Emporium was their third outlet. The restaurant itself has two kinds of dining area, the first is located inside the restaurant and another one located right in front of the restaurant, I reckon they can accommodate 60-80 people. The interior is modern, simple and I didn't see any hints of Japanese decoration inside the restaurant. It was not really crowded that day and I got a seat near the window when the sun has almost set. (yay! dinner with beautiful scenery!)

Let's get started with their food!
Salmon Enoki Roll (IDR 30k)Actually, I ordered this because I saw those super sexy crispy things inside the sushi in the picture on the menu and as expected, it tasted pretty delicious. The topping consists of salmon and fried enoki. Unfortunately, the rice was a little bit hard and dry, so the sushi can be broken easily. The crispiness of the fried enoki was perfect and I love how the salmon had a minimal amount of fishy smell. Well, any kinds of food with fried things just can't go wrong, don't you think so? (at least for me!)
