Lagi kepengen banget makan kue gara-gara pacar adik saya ngajakin cari red velvet, akhirnya pas mampir di Grand Indonesia, saya cari-cari resto yang punya kue yang enak-enak dan memutuskan mampir di Ninety Nine, Ranch Market GI. Konsep restonya sih kayaknya down to nature banget kalau dilihat dari area outdoornya yang adem banget dengan pepohonan hijau nan asri di dalam sebuah mall. It's a save the earth campaign banget ngeliat pohon di dalam restoran sebesar itu hihi. Ada 'banyak set meja makan bernuansa kayu dan juga sofa dan di beberapa sisinya ada set meja makan yang terltak di dalam sebuah gazebo minimalis warna putih. Jadi seolah lagi makan di taman nih. Di sisi sebelah kanan ada open kitchen dengan deretan etalase berisi kue-kue nan menggiurkan. Area indoornya lebih luas lagi. kira-kira berkapasitas 200 orang. Nuansa hijau dan cokelat back to nature juga menghiasi bagian indoor ini.\

 

 
Berhubung cuma ingin makan kue saya nggak ngintip-ngintip menu lainnya. Mereka sih serve Western to Asian Food dengan range harga yang muahal hehehe...Makanan berkisar dari Rp46.000 - 150000. Minuman berkisar antara Rp35.000 - 50.000. Dessert rata-rata Rp35.000 - 46.000. Berhubung mereka nggak menyediakan red velvet cake, akhirnya pilihan jatuh pada Raspberry Velvet Cake dan Pistacchio Layer Cake.

Raspberry Velvet Cake (46K)

I know I know, red velvet is so 2012, but today I just want to get sweet tooth hehe. Fortunately, Raspberry Velvet-nya lumayan enak! Teksturnya very moist namun mungkin karena ini creamnya ada campuran raspberry-nya jadi sedikit terasa asam after tastenya. Manisnya sih pas hanya saya gak suka sensasi asamnya aja hehehe…

 
Pistacchio Layer Cake (46K)

This is the very best! Nggak pernah sebelumnya nyobain pistaccio cream, this cake have a super moist texture with pistacchio cream yang lembut dan sangat kuat sekali aroma dan rasa kacang pistacchionya. Manisnya pas, rasa kacangnya deh yang juara buat saya. Feels like almond tapi lebih strong!

 
Pelayanannnya super excellent! Dalam 10 menit pelayanan dating dan dalam 10 menit juga kue saya datang. Enak banget lah buat hangout atau Cuma buat chit-chat sambil ngopi atau nge-cake cantik disini. Cuma aja siap-siap ngerogoh kocek lebih dalem plus 21% tax and service charge for food and beverages ya hihihi…

They call it 'Kopi Joss Smile Jan 11, 2013

I just can't imagine when my friend asked me to try coffee served with charcoal. It's sounds weird of course! However, it happened on our last nite visiting Jogjakarta several months ago. It was a super crowd Saturday nite traced Malioboro street until we arrived at the back side of Tugu Station, Jogja. Surprisingly, in an area called 'Tugu' there is a life where all ages people of Jogja enjoyed the nite here. It is actually a small road filled by many food stalls called 'Angkringan'. Angkringan is a very well-known traditional food stall in Jogja. Here the seller sells a cheap hawker food such as 'gorengan', 'nasi kucing' and 'satai' which become a trademark of Jogja and now spread to Jakarta.

 
So, here I am, laughed in the one side of the street, across Angkringan Bu Suprapti, chit chat while waiting for the authentic 'Kopi Joss'. If you wonder why it is named 'Joss', the old story said that it came from a 'Joss' sound when the charcoal put into the hot coffee, the hot ember which fused with the water directly resulted on a sound "Jossss"...

Anyway, are you wonder what kind of charcoal they used for? Be calm. It is not charcoals to grill the meat or satai hahaha...it came from the combustion of 'Asem' trees which is believed to relieve colds and sore. The taste of the coffee was so so for me. I thought it's just a coffee sachet but fused by the charcoal. But it is unique when the charcoal fused with the water, the coffee wasn't go black. The taste became a lil bit bitter, but still okay

 
Besides, there are also unique drink, namely 'Air Tapai'. Indeed it comes from 'tapai or tape', one of Indonesia traditional foods. The taste of course sour but it is refreshing! The price of course very cheap! The number one reason I'm willing to spend my money searching Jogja's culinary heritage is the price. You can get the Kopi Joss only with IDR8.000! Other snacks like 'gorengan' only IDR2.000-3.000...aah it's soooo heaveenn!

 
Overall, I enjoyed to have Saturday nite here. I love the peaceful Jogja with its rich culinary heritage. Well, gotta write you other cheap foods which you can find in Jogja. Ever visited Jogja, share your culinary journey here and recommend me your favorite food to try, eaters!

So, I might be the one who late to taste and give a shout about this months ago happening place. Yeah, at least I fulfilled my curiosity of having a dinner here. On a rainy night after window shopping in MKG, my sister and I stopped by in one of Holycow branches, they name it 'camp'. So, here we were in #CampGading wandering what dish that is gonna seduce us, while I just had no idea what to try hahaha...

 
When all people gossiping about their best Wagyu steak, I chose the opposite, in my opinion the best Wagyu steak can only be prepared by a super master chef's hand which is usually served also in a fine restaurant. Then, I decided to try its Sirloin steak with mashed potatoes and mushroom sauce, while my sister ordered the same Sirloin but with french fries and blackpepper sauce. The first thing popped out in our my mind was we heart the sauce both! All have its characteristic. The mushroom sauce went savory, creamy, and a lil bit sweet on my tongue with very sting onion and mushroom smell. Actually, I prefer the latter than earlier sauce, the blackpepper went wonderful on my tongue, a perfect fusion of blackpepper with other spices resulted on spicy and...okay sorry I couldn't say for more..it's just perfect!

 
The sirloin was also juicy and tender, it all went well with the sauce. The differences between those two are the earlier with mushroom sauce was drier than the latter whereas we ordered the same well-done beef. Don't have any idea, we just enjoyed it and eat the sauce up till the last hahaha! Anyway with a full belly and affordable price for such steak, what I could say only "I satisfy!".

What's hot to company you enjoying the autumn breeze today, either a cup of coffee or a light snack will always be a great choice, right. And what's best to fulfill it? Starbucks coffee might be the best choice, at least it always for me hehe...

I'm not, again, a coffee expert. I'm just a coffee lovers who always curious about how can I distinguish the taste of Arabica and Robusta coffee haha...okay just kidding...Lemme bring you to my autumn story where Starbucks invited me to their coffee tasting in a happening place also, Kota Kasablanka, Kuningan and introduce their limited premium espresso Sea Salt Caramel Mocha. This is a very unique blend, a perfect fusion of espresso, steamed milk and mocha sauce, lil bit salty from smoked sea salt and sweet from Turbindo sugar and caramel sauce. I love the colorful taste of it! Oh FYI, you can enjoy the Sea Salt Caramel Mocha either in hot, iced, or Frappuccino.

 
As its continuity, Starbucks also launched a special edition of coffee bean and VIA. Starbucks Autumn Blend and Anniversary Blend which come from a fusion of Sumatra coffee bean with a bold characteristic, while VIA, a ready-to-brew coffee in sachet, comes in House Blend variant with a Latin America coffee bean.

While sipping the coffee, there are many choices of pairing that complete the coffee tasting. Starbucks launched Smoked Chicken Apple on Sundried Tomato Foccacia (34K). This is best for your brunch. A combination of thick foccacia bread and baked tomato, filled with smoked chicken, mixed salad, green apple, cheese slice, and honey lemon dressing. The fusion of taste in one big slice bread will definitely make me full!

 
Jalapeno Cheese Roll (15K), bread with cheese, jalapeno, and onion, became a perfect pairing in enjoying Starbucks Autumn Blend. A cheesy taste in this roll neutralized the bold flavor of the Autumn Blend.

 
Purple Yam Coconut Cake (28K) can be other choices; in contrast I didn’t enjoy it too much. It is made from sweet potato with a coconut cream in every layer, topped with a coconut powder. I felt it’s too sweet and I dunno, I just don’t like the non moist texture of this cake and the coconut cream and the powder made my throat somewhat itchy hehehe…

 
There are also Valencia Cake, Red Velvet Roll, and VIA Snowflake Land that became a superstar in the previous months you can also try. Never enough what Starbucks can give you, just come and try, and oh hurry up because the Sea Salt Caramel Mocha only available until November 5, 2012. Go grab it at your nearest Strabucks Coffee, eatersuntildiee!

Lagi mampir ke Artha Gading, mata saya tertuju pada sebuah kafe yang dari luar desainnya sudah menggoda mata saya, apalagi tulisannya Choco Corner, saya berharap ini kafe yang semua menunya berbau cokelat hahay! Sampai ke depannya, kafe yang bernuansa cokelat ini terlihat tidak seperti kafe cokelat buat saya. Interiornya bergaya ala sebuah rumah jaman dulu yang dipoles sedikit modern terlihat dari set meja makannya. Di sudut dindingnya terdapat beberapa frame yang berisi foto-foto hitam putih, dan sisi sebelahnya terdapat rak buku yang penuh dengan beberapa buku bersampul warna-warni, menimbulkan suasana seperti sedang berada di ruang baca rumah sendiri. Choco corner juga memiliki area outdoor tapi lebih sedikit kapasitas kursinya.

 

 
Setelah saya lihat buku menunya, kok menunya kebanyakan perpaduan western dan italia ya, gak ada signature cokelatnya, cuma ada beberapa dessert dan minuman yang berbahan dasar cokelat. Karena sedikit malas juga dengan menu yang lagi-lagi western, akhirnya saya memesan menu promo saja. Kebetulan mereka punya menu promo berupa pasta dan nasi goreng. Daripada kelaperan, kan hehehe...

Beef Blackpepper Fettuccine (20K)

 
jadi pilihan saya malam ini. Fettuccine ini hadir dengan dua potong garlic bread yang cukup renyah dan sangat terasa bawangnya. Fettuccine yang lembut ini disiram dengan beef blackpepper dengan aroma dan rasa pedas blackpepper yang begitu kuat. Ini pengalaman saya mencoba fettuccine dicampur dengan blackpepper. For me, this is more than great than bolognese, creamy, tuna, or other sauces! This is a super breakthrough for my tongue dan untungnya semuanya pas dilidah. Sausnya nggak terlalu pedas walaupun aromanya memang kuat sekali dan dagingnya juga lembut. Buat saya, makan fettuccine nggak penrah seenak dan seaneh ini hahaha!

Lasagna de Forno (20K)

 
This is also great deal! For this twenty thousand, saya nyobain lasagna yang bahkan lebih better dari sebuah gerai pizza Italia langganan saya. Datang dalam keadaan masih hot, teksturnya atasnya cukup kaku namun mudah dipotong dan pas dipotong pun bagian dalamnya tidak langsung hancur dan benyek. Aroma daging dan saus bolognese langsung menguar plus keju yang melted berpadu sempurna dengan saus bolognesnya. Saat digigit, semuanya lembuuut, gak berasa kayak makan lasagna malah. It's just perfect in my mouth.

 
Ya meskipun saya akhirnya gak mencicipi apapun yang berbau cokelat disini, tapi pengalaman makan menu promo seenak ini rasanya very worth it! Harga yang non promo juga masih masuk akal disini. Untuk makanan berkisar antara Rp20.000 - 50.000. Sedangkan untuk minumannya berkisar antara Rp15.000 - 25.000. Pelayanannya sih buat saya agak sedikit kurang senyum meskipun makanannya datang sangat cepat. Saya hanya menunggu 10 menit untuk fettuccine saya datang di meja disusul lasagnanya. Suasana yang homey dan penerangan yang redup juga bikin saya betah hangout dari sore sampai menjelang makan malam disini. Yang jadi catatan sih mungkin Choco Corner bisa menambahkan menu signature chocolatenya, biar pengunjung juga gak bosan dengan makanan yang western lagi western lagi hehehe...
