Some restaurant in Jakarta which specialty in Chinese cuisine also prepared this special dishes to welcome Chinese New Year, like Ming Dining a Chinese restaurant that located in Senayan City.This fine dining restaurant was first opened as Ming Village but afterward to gain more acknowledgement in their image changed into Ming Dining an exclusive restaurant that served authentic Chinese cuisine with no pork and lard. Ming Dining has spacious dining place decorated with traditional antique china vibe, with vase flower and antique plate arrangement. Most of furniture and interior were made from wood which given warm cozy homey feeling. There are also some partition to divide the dining spatial in-between and give more privacy to the customers.

Start with Yee Sang as as appetizer, then followed with main courses such as Nasi Goreng Beras Merah, Ayam Cabe ala Ming, Sapo Tahu dan Jamur, Bunci Zaitun ayam Cincang, Ikan Gurame Goreng ala Saus Thai, and finished with Xi Mi Lu as dessert of the day. Today grand opening menu was with the famous dishes Yee Sang idr 438k, the dishes that only can be enjoy during Chinese New Year every year. Yee Sang aka Yu Sheng aka tossing prosperity, it might can be translate into meaning a life food made of raw fish and vegetables that bring good luck, health, prosperous and happiness. But beside that, it also has its own story to tell the first tradition been made with the fishermen from Guangzhou whom celebrated the seventh days of Chinese New Year by feasting on their fish catches. Traditional Yee Sang only contain raw fish and several vegetables but some famous chefs modified and transformed the traditional into the modern richest Yee Sang that we have known for now, made from twenty seven ingredients such as raw salmon, radish, carrots, red peppers, turnips, red pickled ginger, sun dries orange, key lime leaves, chinese parsley, chilli, jellyfish, chopped peanuts, toasted sesame seeds, chinese shrimp cracker, five spice powders and other ingredient laced with sauce using plum sauce, rice vinegar, kumquat paste and sesame oil. When serving Yee Sang usually the restaurant helper, add some ingredients and say auspicious wishes or "jixing hua" each time the ingredient added. The first saying was "was shi ru yi" meaning may all your wishes to be fullfiled, after that follow with "niannian you yu" as the fish added uttered a hope may there be abudance a whole year, the next ingredient added was lime and pomelo with saying "da ji da li" meaning good luck and smooth sailing. the next one added was pepper "zhao cai jin bao" meaning attract wealth and treasures, when the oil poured "cai yuan guang jin" meaning numerous sources of wealth, followed with sesame seeds "sheng yi xing long" meaning prosperity for the business, and Yee Sang sauce plum sauce "tian tian mi mi" wishes for may life always be sweet, and finally wrapped with dropping deep fried golden flour crisps "man di huang jin" meaning floor full of gold. become until it well mixed and ready to eat. Yee Sang taste really good and delicious, a lured sweetness and well coated fresh ingredients in every bites. Next thing to do was to taste Ming Dining authentic main courses, Nasi Goreng Beras Merah idr 156k, a fried rice which using brown rice as main ingredient, never expected the result was really delicate and stand out, the rice texture just perfect blend well with spices and other ingredients. This main course menu is really hard to forget, Ayam Cabe ala Ming idr 176k, a heartthrob chicken dish, not only have great tastes, its chicken chunk also tender and rich in flavor, the chilli pepper tempura complement the chicken perfectly, just love it. Sapo Tahu Jamur dan Sayur idr 136k, a clay pot tofu dish cooked in clay pot to keep it warm, its stir well with savy and gravy sauce, the tofu was silky and soft, the mushroom slices really juicy and chewy. Buncis Zaitun Ayam Cincang idr 136k, usually this veggie dish cooked with minced beef, but this one different with using minced chicken and olive oil, not only healthy the dish also pleasant and wonderful, the chicken minced covered the bean snaps whole and brought the fresh sweet, juicy and savory flavor. The last main course was Ikan Gurame Goreng Saus Ala Thai idr 380k, a splendid dish, the fish cooked and fried as look it was dancing then placed onto the sour sweet Thai Sauce. This dish was executed nicely cooked with Thai style sauce, the sauce its self has a lighter mixture in sour and sweet make a good fusion with the crisp savory fish meat. Today meal completed with Xi Mi lu idr 29k, the dessert merely like cold beverages with small chopped of fruits, taste sweet cold and milky but not too heavy. It was a wonderful day to learned more about Yee Sang at Ming Dining in Senayan City, learned the way of serving this special dish with its wishes and tossing together.
